There are almost certainly a lot of terms related to this area that you are not familiar with. Here is a list of the most common with a brief explanation of each.

AON
Active Optical Network
Broadband Terms
Broadband Line rate in excess of 2Mbit/s
High-speed Broadband Line rate in excess of 10Mbit/s
Super-high-speed Broadband Line rate in excess of 100Mbit/s
Ultra-high-speed Broadband Line rate in excess of 1000Mbit/s
Contention Ratio
the ratio of the potential maximum demand to the actual bandwidth
Co-op
a jointly owned commercial enterprise that produces and distributes goods and services and is run for the benefit of its owners
FTTH
Fibre to the Home
FTTB
Fibre to the Building
FTTP
Fibre to the Premises
FTTC
Fibre to the Cabinet / Curb
GBit/s
GigaBits per second.
Often written as G. 1G = 1,000M.
Infrastructure Owner
The owner of the physical layer (fibre, ducts, cabinets, buildings etc.)
LTE
Long Term Evolution
4G network for mobile operators
MBit/s
MegaBit per second.
Often written as M. 1,000M = 1G.
Network Operator
Company who owns & operates the equipment connected to the physical layer of the network
NGA
Next Generation Access.
A replacement for existing communications access networks that will deliver super-high-speed broadband services.
Open Access
The requirement for infrastructure providers to offer equal rights of access to competitive service providers such that they can deliver services to the consumer at competitive rates.
PON
